The Long Goodbye is a 1954 novel by Raymond Chandler. While usually considered not on the level of The Big Sleep or Farewell, My Lovely, it saw hard-boiled detective fiction used as a vehicle for social criticism. It is also known for having autobiographical elements that relate to Chandler's life.
