Startide Rising
1983 sci-fi novel by David Brin. The 2nd book of 6 set in his Uplift universe.
The story is about the spaceship "Streaker" which is manned by neo-dolphins (dolphins genetically engineered to match human intelligence). The ship is being hunted by several alien races after having stumbled upon a derelict fleet whose identity is of vast historical and religious import to the alien civilizations.
