Schönefeld International Airport
Schönefeld International Airport (Flughafen Berlin-Schönefeld) is an international airport located in Berlin, Germany, near Brandenburg, Germany. Its IATA Airport Code is SXF, and it is referred to as the "holiday airport". It has mostly international charter flights. Schonefeld was once the major airport of East Germany.
It is further from the city than Tegel International Airport and Tempelhof International Airport are, therefore, it is not a source of noise pollution.
Schönefeld is slated to become Berlin Brandenburg International Airport. Once the new expansion of the terminal starts construction, Templehof will close. Six months after the airport is renamed and the new section opened, Tegel is to close.
