Sandwell is a metropolitan district in the West Midlands of England.

Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council is the local government body responsible for the administration of the borough, which is made up of the Black Country towns of Oldbury (where the council has its headquarters), Rowley Regis, Smethwick, Tipton, Wednesbury and West Bromwich. The district has a population of 282,904 (2001)

A part of the West Midlands metrolpolitan county since 1974, most of the area was traditionally part of Staffordshire.

Sandwell is divided into 24 wards and is represented by 72 ward councillors.
