Saint Joseph's University

Saint Joseph's University of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania was founded as Saint Joseph's College in 1851 by the Jesuit order of the Roman Catholic Church. In 1970, ownership of the college was seperated from the Jesuit order and women were admitted for the first time. In 1978 Saint Joseph's became a university.
