Robert Thirsk

Robert Thirsk (born August 17, 1953) is a Canadian astronaut.

Selected as an astronaut by the Canadian Space Agency in 1983, Thirsk was the backup of payload specialist Marc Garneau for the flight STS-41-G in 1984. However it took another 12 years until he actually flew into space, as payload specialist on STS-78. After that flight he underwent the two-year training as a mission specialist, however he has not yet been assigned to a new Space Shuttle mission yet.
