New Brunswick Highway 1
New Brunswick Highway 1 is one of the most important highways in southern New Brunswick, Canada. It is roughly 225 kilometres long.
Most of Highway 1 is a 4-lane divided expressway, but there are several portions in Charlotte County that are two lanes and will be upgraded within the next few years.
From the United States border crossing in St. Stephen, Highway 1 passes through Oak Bay, then bypasses the town of St. Andrews to the north on a 4-lane highway. It then passes around St. George, then hugs the Bay of Fundy coast through Pennfield, New River Beach and Pocologan. At Lepreau Highway 1 becomes a 4-lane highway for the remainder of its route. It follows the Saint John Throughway, Harbour Bridge and Mackay Highway through the city of Saint John and Kennebecasis Valley, then follows a new section past Hampton and Norton to Sussex. From Sussex, it follows an old alignment of the Trans-Canada Highway to meet up with the TCH near Petitcodiac.
