Lin Changren
Lin Sen (林森 Pinyin: Lín Sēn) (1868 August 1, 1943), courtesy name Zichao (子超), sobriquet Changren (長仁), was Chairman of the National Government of the Republic of China for from 1932 until his death. He both succeeded and was succeeded by Chiang Kai-shek to the post.
Born in Shangan Township (尚幹鄉), Minhou County (閩侯縣), Fujian, Lin worked in Telegram Bureau of Taipei in 1884, and Shanghai custom office in 1902. He then served as an anti-Qing revolutionary (in the United League since 1905) and overseas organizer for the Kuomintang. He politically opposed Chiang Kai-shek and was appointed only as a sign of personal tribute and held few powers.
He visited Qingzhi Mountain (Green-magical-plant Mountain) in Lianjiang, Zhejiang and was fascinated by it, hence addressing self as Oldman Green-magical-plant (青芝老人 Qingzhi Laoren) in his old age. He died at the age of 76 in Chongqing. His bone tower, built before his death in 1926, beside Qingzhi Mountain was damaged in the Cultural Revolution, and was restored in 1979.
