K. Eric Drexler

Kim Eric Drexler (born April 25, 1955) studied at MIT and received the first doctoral degree in Molecular Nanotechnology. He founded the Foresight Institute. He has written much about nanotechnology and coined the term "nanomachine". The Institute for Molecular Manufacturing has a Curriculum Vita of Drexler.

He originally began investigating thin metal films tens of nanometers thick in order to construct solar sails.
