Junkanoo
Junkanoo is a street parade which occurs in Nassau in the Bahamas every Boxing Day (December 26) and New Year's Day.
Junkanoo groups "rush" from 2:00 AM until shortly after dawn, to the music of cowbells, in costumes made from cardboard covered in tiny shreds of colourful crepe paper competing for the cash prizes.
Larger groups include the "Saxons", "Valley Boys", "Roots" and "One Family" while smaller groups include "Most Qualified" and the "P.I.G.S.". Groups of the past included the "Vikings" and "Music Makers".
