Ivysaur (Fushigisou in Romaji Japanese) is a Stage 1 grass-type Pokémon that evolves from Bulbasaur at level 16 and further evolves into Venusaur at level 32. On Ivysaur, the bud that Bulbasaur carries has grown into a full ivy blossom; it will grow larger in sunlight, and will also produce a pleasant smell when it is ready to bloom. As the blossom grows, Ivysaur loses the ability to stand on its hindlegs.

Name Origin

"Ivysaur" is a shortening of "Ivy Dinosaur." The translation of his Japanese name, Fushigisou, shall be posted soon.

Availability

In Pokémon Red/Blue, Yellow and Pokémon Gold/Silver/Crystal, Ivysaur can be obtained by evolving Bulbasaur. In Pokémon Sapphire/Ruby, Ivysaur is not available at all.

Strengths / Weaknesses

Ivysaur is vulnerable to Ice, Bug, Fire, Psychic and Flying, and strong against Water, Electric, Grass, and Fighting.
