Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 2,080 km² (803 mi²). 2,076 km² (801 mi²) of it is land and 4 km² (2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.19% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 6,536 people, 2,773 households, and 1,807 families residing in the county. The population density is 3/km² (8/mi²). There are 3,270 housing units at an average density of 2/km² (4/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 97.23% White, 0.23% Black or African American, 0.83% Native American, 0.14% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.38% from other races, and 1.18% from two or more races. 1.07% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
