Elfrida
Edgar left two sons, the eldest named Edward, son of Elfleda the Fair, and Ethelred, the youngest, the child of his second wife ELFRIDA.
ELFRIDA had been the wife of Ethelbald, Alderman of the East Angles.
Edgar had slain Ethelbald, in order to obtain the hand of his widow; and this wicked woman appears to have connived at the crime.
