Disability/List of impairments

A disabled person is one who has a condition called a disability that interferes with his or her abiltiy to perform one or more activities of everyday living. For example, locomotion (indoors and going outside), getting dressed, communicating with others.

This definition is based on the one given in the Americans with Disabilities Act, a law in the USA, enacted in July 1990. The equivalent UK legislation is the Disability Discrimination Act, 1995.

Disability/List of impairments
