De Groenen (The Greens) are a Dutch ecological party. They were founded in 1983. In comparison to GroenLinks, the bigger green party of the Netherlands, they say about themselves that they are more radical on ecological issues and more right-wing or realpolitical on other issues. They are (as well as GroenLinks) a member party of the European Federation of Green Parties. At the moment, De Groenen are active mainly in relation to municipal and provincial politics.
