Davao del Sur
Davao del Sur is a province of the Philippines located in the Davao Region in Mindanao. Its capital is Digos City and the province borders the province of Davao to the north, and Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, South Cotabato, and Sarangani to the west. To the east lies the Davao Gulf.
Davao City, used to be a part of the province, until it was made an independent city. The city administers itself, separate from the province, and has its own Congress representatives. This article deals with the rest of the province, but includes Davao City in some sections.

Davao City is actually independent of the province and is only loosely associated with it. The city residents do not vote for provincial officials and they have their own representative to the Congress of the Philippines.
