Coercive Acts

The Intolerable Acts, called by the English the Coercive Acts or Punitive Acts, were a series of laws passed by the British Parliament in 1774 in response for the growing unrest in the American Colonies, particularly in Boston, Massachusetts for the Boston Tea Party.

The Acts include

The punitive effect of these laws generated a reaction in a great and growing sympathy for the colonists of Massachusetts, encouraging the neighbouring colonies to band to together which would help lead to the American Revolutionary War.
