Chris Mullin (politician)

Christopher John Mullin (born December 12, 1947) is the Labour member of Parliament for the English constituency of Sunderland South. He is a member of the Socialist Campaign Group, and had been an editor of Tribune Magazine.

His constituency was the first to declare after the general election of May 1, 1997. Despite his criticism of the government, he was made a junior minister from 1999 to 2001, and again from 2003.

He is the author of a political fantasy novel, A Very British Coup, describing the destabilisation (and ultimate replacement) of a left wing British government by the forces of the Establishment. The novel appeared in the early 1980s and was adapted for television, with substantial alterations to the plot, some years later.
