Cárdenas is a town 150 km east of Havana, Cuba, in Matanzas Province.
This town's greatest claim to fame is being where attempted refugee Elián González lives. As of 2003, González attended Marcelo Salado Elementary School, whose director (principal) is Maribel Reyes.
