Robert Montgomery Knight has been one of the most gifted and dedicated coaches in the history of collegebasketball. He has also been an abusive, bullying man. After a series of altercations and controversies, he was fired around 2001 from Indiana University at Bloomington, where he had been not only a revered coach but something of a folk hero for 25 years. He is now the head basketball coach at Texas Tech University. A biography of his life was written by Phil Berger is called Knight Fall. Another book about Knight, A Season on the Brink, written by columnist John Feinstein, details the 1987 season, and potrays Knight as hot tempered.
