Billy Goat curse

The Billy Goat Curse is a superstition held by many fans of the Chicago Cubs baseball team. During the 1945 World Series, the Cubs were leading the Detroit Tigers 3 games to 2. During Game 6, a fan attempted to bring a goat into Wrigley Field. He was ejected from the ballpark due to the goat's foul smell. It is said that he then placed a curse on the Cubs, cursing them to never win the National League pennant ever again. Since then, they never in fact have won the National League pennant, though they have come agonizingly close several times, most recently in the 2003 National League Championship Series, when the Cubs were leading the Florida Marlins 3 games to 2, and were playing at Wrigley Field. The Cubs lost both games and the pennant.
