Anonymous remailer

An anonymous remailer is a server that receives messages with embedded instructions on where to send them next and forwards them without revealing where they came from. There are Cypherpunk anonymous remailers, Mixmaster anonymous remailers, and nym servers.

Remailers often go down without warning. It is therefore important to use up-to-date statistics when choosing remailers. Statistics can be obtained from the following sites and others:

  • http://www.privacyresources.org/frogadmin/Main.html (warning: animated graphics may eat your browser's CPU time)

Since the release of Echolot, (An automated remailer pinger application written in Perl), the number of accurately maintained statistics sources has increased considerably. A complete list of all pingers can be obtained from www.noreply.org/allpingers. A consolidated view of current remailer statistics based on all available stats sources is available at www.noreply.org/meta.
