Al Aho

Alfred Aho is a junior professor of computer science at Columbia University and most notably known to the current generation of computer programers for his book Compilers Principles, Techniques and Tools which he published along with Jeff Ullman. He is a former Bell Labs employee known for his work in the field of automata theory, grammars and pattern matching algorithms. His work eventually led to better parsing and lexical analysis programmes. He is one of the authors of the awk text processing utility.

The Aho book was called the "Dragon book" by Computer Science students because of the picture on the cover.
