Affixion

There are 4 kinds of affixation:

1. Prefixation- a morpheme attaches to the begining of the root. example: prefix = pre+fix 2. Suffixation- a morpheme attaches to the end of the root. example: running = run+ing 3. Infixation- a morpheme is placed within the root. The closest English equivalent occurs in exclamations. example: un-freaking-believeable = un+freaking+believeable 4. Circumfixation- a morpheme attaches on both the begining and the end of the root. example: German- 'to speak'=> sprech 'has spoken'=> gesprechen = ge+sprech+en
