AddALL

AddALL is a website that offers an online book search feature. The search combs records from more than 40 major sellers in a meta-search and combines the results so that they can be sorted by the user (usually by lowest price). By combining so many sources (and also giving the option of searching for online coupons from the booksellers) AddALL attempts to offer users of its search feature information on finding the lowest price on a book.

Founded in August of 1998, AddALL is not owned by any bookseller, thus enabling the site to give unbiased and neutral results. The company was founded by Lily Chen and Chai-Hup Tan, two avid readers living in California. AddALL is a small company, still run by the founders and by a small group of people who they have hired on.

Notable for its lack of banner ads, AddALL is also known for its intriguing quotations which are offered on the search page while the user waits for results. Originally limited to quotations from the writings of Rabindranath Tagore, the scope of the quotations has since been enlarged and includes hundreds of quotations hand-picked by AddALL staff members. Aside from the appearance of the site, another aspect which makes it notable is its extensive used book search. While many search engines exist for new books, fewer do for used books, and fewer still that are meta-searches of multiple sources.

Since the success of its book search engine, AddALL has expanded by adding a magazine search site, a music (CD) search site, and a movie (VHS/DVD) search site.
