Acrochordon

Acrochordons, or skin tags, are small benign tumors that form primarily on the face, neck, arm pits, and groin. They usually range in size from two to five millimeters, although larger ones have been seen. They are harmless although they are sometimes irritated by clothing, jewelry, etc. They can be removed through several minor surgical procedures, but many medical plans will not pay for this for purely cosmetic reasons.

Scientists don't know exactly why skin tags form, but there are correlations with age and obesity. They are more common in people with diabetes. It is estimated that by age 70, up to 59 percent of people have them.
