Abercarn is a district in the county of Monmouthshire, Wales, 10 miles north-west of Newport by the Great Western Railway. The district is traditionally associated with collieries, ironworks and tinplate works; the town, which lies in the middle portion of the Ebbw valley, being situated on the south-eastern flank of the once great mining region of Glamorgan and Monmouthshire.
