I'm trying to research Robert Barr Jnr of Bellstanes, West Kilbride, Ayrshire, Scotland. He commisioned and purchased a gentlemans motor yacht in 1936, built by Hugh MacLean & Sons of Govan, Glasgow. The yacht is registered as a small ship with Lloyds, 1936, 36ft x 9ft. Ship name; 'Zaire', Building No; 2844, 12.5 tonnes.
'Zaire' and owner, Robert Barr Jnr (American descent?), also featured on the front cover of the 'Yachting Monthly' or 'Yachting World' magazine in 1936 as an example of the 'Boomerang Class' yacht.
My partner has lived and travelled aboard 'Zaire' as his home since 1984, and would like to obtain as much information about the history of his home and its previous owners from 1936 when launched and purchased by Robert Barr Jnr., to 1984 when he purchased the vessel and restored her to a full and interesting life!
If you can offer any relevant information or suggestions to further my research I would be very interested.
