I am doing search of Adyes' and am trying to trace when "John Adye" from England, most likely London, came to the USA. In my family bible he had writen the date of 1787 and I assume that this was about the time that he had purchased the bible. I also have the names Aner Adye along with his wife's name which was Laura Whicher Adye along with the names of their children. I believe that the name General Sir John Ayde is most likely spelled incorrectly. I believe the name is Adye and not Ayde.
